Criteria for BOB Booklists
The list of books for the upcoming year will be titles recommended by, and voted on, from the PRDL BOB Librarians, Coaches, and Teachers.
The PRDL BOB Leadership Committee will:
Consider a variety of plots, settings, formats and styles.
Consider a variety of genres: adventure, animal, fantasy, realistic fiction, science fiction, historical fiction, biography, folk literature, classics, etc.
The list should reflect different reading levels within the grades in that group, not to exceed max 700 Lexile for ES and max 1000 Lexile for MS.
Select well-reviewed titles that are popular and will likely "stand the test of time."
Confirm that titles are currently available, preferably in paperback.
Only one book from a series is included on a list in a given year. This title should be Book #1 in the series.
Aim to include Panda Award Books, if possible.
The mission of PRDL BOB is to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, to broaden reading interests, to increase reading comprehension, to promote academic excellence, and to foster cooperative learning and teamwork among students in our home schools and across the PRDL region.
